What is Hypnobirthing?
Hypnobirthing is a complete antenatal education programme which is empowering and transformative. This preparation tries to give pregnant women a positive view of birth and the belief that childbirth does not have to be traumatic. The aim is a shorter, more comfortable labour, with less need for intervention or pain relief.
Hypnobirthing is suitable for ANY birth setting and for your first or subsequent pregnancies!
What’s involved?
The Science
Hypnobirthing starts from a biological understanding of the anatomy and physiological processes involved in birth. You will learn how your body works during labour and birth, and which routine aspects of ‘care’ might undermine it. Educating yourself allows more understanding and leads to more confidence in your ability to give birth.
Examples of areas covered:
- The 3 stages of labour
- Mastering your birth hormones
- Birth environment & the effect it has
- Positions to birth in
Breathing Techniques
Breathing is one of the most important tools to help you stay relaxed throughout your labour.
- It allows you to feel in control when managing contractions
- It helps the flow of oxytocin, the vital hormone we need for labour to progress
- It reduces stress & anxiety, relieving tension in your muscles which reduces pain
- It increases blood flow to your uterus making it way more effective
You will learn 2 effective breathing techniques on the course.
Hypnobirthing Classes
- Over 4 sessions across 4 weeks you will gain a thorough understanding of the physiology of birth, your birth choices, how your birth partner can advocate and support you, effective relaxation/breathing techniques to utilise and much.
- The Hypno Beginnings Labour & Birth Preparation Courses are group led. They are held in person in the West Midlands every Tuesday evening 7:30-9:30pm and held on zoom every Thursday evening 7:30-9:30pm.
- Both options give the same experience, content and support from myself.
Hypnobirthing with Hannah
Hypnobirthing was recommended to me when I fell pregnant with my first baby in 2019. I felt fearful of childbirth as I knew nothing about it. I enrolled on a course at around 28 weeks, and thanks to the power of hypnobirthing I can honestly say I loved giving birth to my son. Many people I speak to think I’m crazy when I say that “I loved giving birth” but I don’t recall anything negative, just a calm, positive, life-changing experience. This inspired me to empower women and their birth partners to create positive birth experiences for themselves and support women in pregnancy, birth and beyond.
